Welcome, Class of 2030!

Dean Whitney Soule | March 26, 2026

After carefully reviewing over 61,000 applications, we are thrilled to extend our warmest welcome to the newest members of our Penn community. Each year, we have the honor of learning about a diverse array of students through their shared stories. This year, we were particularly impressed by the range of perspectives, curiosities, and ambitions brought to our community by the students who have been admitted to the Class of 2030.

The Class of 2030 is made up of thoughtful, driven individuals who are eager to create meaningful change. While these students exhibit strong academic performance, they are also committed to engaging with the world around them. They ask profound questions, contribute to their communities, and dive into the subjects that pique their interest. These qualities are evident in the diversity of their experiences and interests.

What strikes us most about this incoming class is the wide spectrum of backgrounds and passions. Some students have a deep focus on specific areas, while others explore multiple fields and ideas. Regardless of their chosen paths, they share a spirit of enthusiasm and persistent curiosity. The admitted students hail from 87 different countries and all 50 states, including Washington D.C., Puerto Rico, Guam, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and even military APO students worldwide. Locally, we are particularly excited to welcome the largest group of students from Philadelphia.

This rich collection of experiences contributes to the dynamic nature of the Penn community, offering students opportunities they might not have anticipated. To all applicants who engaged with Penn during this process—whether admitted, waitlisted, or not offered admission—we are grateful for the time, effort, and thought you put into sharing your stories with us. To our newly admitted Class of 2030, congratulations! We eagerly look forward to meeting you.
