University of Pennsylvania (Penn) recently announced a new partnership with Service to School (S2S) through its VetLink program. This initiative aims to enhance access and support for U.S. military veterans and service members as they handle the college application process. Penn Admissions will collaborate closely with S2S counselors to offer clear, accurate, and personalized guidance to veteran and military-affiliated applicants.
S2S provides free application counseling, peer-to-peer mentorship, and networking opportunities to service members and veterans at various stages of their educational journey. These services help individuals identify institutions that align with their academic and personal goals. Whitney Soule, Vice Provost and Dean of Admissions at Penn, emphasized the university’s recognition of the unique qualities that military service imparts. She stated, “Military service equips students with leadership, resilience, and a global perspective that deeply enriches our campus.” This partnership underscores Penn’s dedication to expanding access to a Penn education and providing the necessary support for veterans and service members during the admissions process.
At Penn, veterans receive personalized support in accessing veteran education benefits through the Office of Veteran and Military Engagement in Student Registration & Financial Services. They also benefit from connections and advocacy through Penn’s student veteran network, as well as school-based organizations like the Wharton Veteran’s Club and the Penn Carey Law Veteran’s Club. Additionally, Penn’s Career Services assist veterans in translating their military experience into academic and professional pathways.
The partnership with S2S strengthens application and admissions-focused support, creating clearer pathways for veterans and service members considering Penn. Sydney Matthes, CEO of Service to School, expressed enthusiasm about this collaboration, stating, “Service to School is proud to partner with Penn to expand opportunity for veterans and service members pursuing higher education. Penn offers the kind of rigorous academic environment where veterans’ leadership, resilience, and global perspective can translate into meaningful impact both on campus and beyond.”
This new partnership builds on Penn’s existing commitment to supporting veterans and military-affiliated students. It joins a select group of colleges and universities dedicated to expanding access to higher education for veterans and service members. By participating in this growing network, Penn anticipates welcoming more military-connected students into its community and supporting their academic and professional aspirations.
