What these programs look for
Combined programs admit only a small number of students each year, and they decide on more than grades.
Grades and scores
Top grades in a rigorous schedule, strong SAT or ACT scores, and many programs set a minimum MCAT or DAT score for later.
Real experience
Research, clinical or shadowing hours, and service that show you know what medicine or dentistry asks of you.
Essays
Extra essays on why you want medicine now, read closely by the medical or dental school.
Interviews
Most programs interview finalists in winter, often in the multiple-mini-interview format.
Programs that stopped taking high school applicants
Some well-known programs closed, paused or now admit only students already in college. Don’t plan around them.

BS/MD and BS/DDS FAQ
What is a BS/MD program?
A BS/MD (or BA/MD) program admits a student to college and medical school at the same time, straight out of high school. Students who keep the program's grade and test requirements move on to the partner medical school without a second, separate medical school application. Programs take 6 to 8 years in total.
What is a BS/DDS or BS/DMD program?
It is the same idea for dentistry: one application from high school covers both the undergraduate degree and a seat at the partner dental school (DDS and DMD are equivalent dental degrees). These programs usually take 7 or 8 years.
Do BS/MD programs require the MCAT?
Many do: a minimum MCAT score is often a condition for moving on to medical school. A few waive it. Use the “No MCAT required” filter in the list above to see them, and confirm the current rule on each program's official page.
How many BS/MD programs are there?
This list has 50 combined medical programs and 14 combined dental programs that we could confirm on the schools' own websites in October 2026. Programs open, pause and close often, so we re-check the list and mark changes.
When should a student start preparing?
Most programs take applications in the fall and early winter of senior year, and many add interviews. Strong candidates start planning in 9th or 10th grade: grades, test scores, research, clinical experience and a clear reason for medicine take time to build.
Nine experts, one plan
Each expert covers a different part of the application, and every part feeds the next.
- Plan: goals, a BS/MD college list and a timeline, with your chief counselor and medical school admissions consultants.
- Build: grades, scores, research and awards, with research mentors, competition coaches, test prep and 4.0 GPA tutors.
- Write: essays in your own voice, with professional writers and the Editor-in-Chief.
- Present: one consistent story in every application and interview.
