The University of Rochester stands out as a top choice for many incoming students, offering a variety of reasons for why they decided to attend. According to current students, the university’s flexible curriculum and extensive research opportunities are key factors. Will, a senior from Connecticut, chose URochester because he liked the campus environment and its proximity to Buffalo, while Roshan, another senior, highlighted the research opportunities available at the Tier 1 research institution.

Other students, like Zoe and Morgan, appreciated the diverse range of programs beyond traditional STEM fields. Zoe, a senior from Connecticut, chose URochester for its Politics, Philosophy, and Economics program and research opportunities. Morgan, a senior from Pennsylvania, noted the psychology program, campus diversity, and overall prestige of the university.

Sanchit, a senior from New Delhi, India, was influenced by his brother’s positive experiences at URochester. Hazel, also a senior, emphasized the university’s flexible curriculum, allowing her to explore various disciplines and pursue her hobbies. Lily, a junior from Minnesota, selected URochester due to its generous scholarship offers and strong pre-med programs, including opportunities to conduct research at University of Rochester Medicine or volunteer at Strong Memorial Hospital.

Sam, a sophomore from New York, chose URochester because it was the only school in the state offering Epidemiology as a major. She highlights the supportive community and numerous engagement opportunities, such as leadership roles in clubs and research labs. These examples illustrate that while there are many choices, each student finds their unique reason for choosing the University of Rochester.
