Columbia University has announced that its application for transfer admission to both Columbia College and Columbia Engineering is now open for the 2026-2027 academic year. The university encourages prospective students to familiarize themselves with the application instructions and the holistic review process, along with the specific questions for the current cycle. Applications must be submitted through the Coalition Application on Scoir by Monday, March 1, 2027.
To be eligible for enrollment at Columbia, applicants must have completed, or be in the process of completing, at least one full academic year, which typically amounts to a minimum of 24 credits, at a US-style college. A US-style college is defined as one where courses are offered in similar terms to those in the United States, such as quarters or semesters, and where students receive grades and English-language transcripts for each course taken in each term.
Candidates who have completed more than four semesters of college coursework elsewhere are advised against applying. This is due to Columbia’s academic requirements and institutional policies, which make it unlikely for these candidates to meet all graduation requirements in a reasonable and timely manner. For any inquiries, interested students can reach out to ugrad-transfer@columbia.edu.
The announcement was posted on August 1, 2026, and can be found on the official portal.
