Columbia University has made its application process for the Visiting Student Program available for the upcoming 2026-2027 academic year. This program allows undergraduate students from other colleges and universities to spend either a spring or fall semester at Columbia, broadening their educational experience. The application is accessible through the Visiting Student application portal, and it’s important for applicants to review the detailed instructions and understand the distinctions between this program and those offered by other Columbia schools.
To apply for the spring 2027 semester, students must submit their application by Sunday, November 15, 2026. For the fall 2027 semester, there are two deadlines: the priority deadline is Thursday, April 1, 2027, and the final deadline is Tuesday, June 1, 2027. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis, and admissions decisions are communicated accordingly.
The program is open to current undergraduate students from other colleges or universities who will have completed at least one year of college coursework by the time they enroll. While the program primarily targets sophomore and junior students, seniors are also eligible to apply. Additionally, students from institutions outside the United States are welcome to participate in this program.
Columbia University emphasizes that interested students should familiarize themselves with the specific requirements and differences between the Visiting Student Program and other offerings at Columbia. The application process is designed to be straightforward and transparent, ensuring that all prospective students have a clear understanding of what to expect.
For more detailed information and to access the application portal, students should visit the official Columbia Undergraduate Admissions website. The application process is open to a diverse range of students, offering them the opportunity to experience the unique academic environment at Columbia.
