Wake Forest University undergraduate admissions has officially announced that applications for the upcoming admissions cycle will open on August 1. Rising high school seniors preparing to apply can expect a few minor updates to the application requirements and process for the Class of 2031.

The second prompt invites candidates to describe what sparks their intellectual curiosity or has helped them understand the complexity of the world around them, allowing up to 150 words to discuss a read work, a classroom project, or co-curricular activities. The third prompt centers on Dr. Maya Angelou, the celebrated author, poet, civil-rights activist, and former Reynolds Professor of American Studies at Wake Forest University, who encouraged people to celebrate their identities and respect individual dignity; applicants select one of her powerful quotes and explain in up to 300 words how it connects to their lived experience or shapes how they plan to contribute to the campus community. The fourth option asks students to provide their own Top Ten List on a theme of their choosing, with a limit of 100 characters per line.

In addition to the chosen supplemental prompt, applicants must still complete the mandatory “Why Wake?” statement, which allows up to 100 words and is now housed directly within the supplemental questions section of the application platform.

When the application portal officially opens on August 1, prospective students may submit via either the Common Application or the Coalition Application powered by SCOIR. The applicant experience, interface, and university requirements remain completely identical regardless of which portal a student selects to use.
